The sun lifts slowly over the mountains, lighting the peaks in soft pinks and gold. Outside, the air is crisp enough to see your breath, yet the promise of a warm day stirs in the valley. You pull on a jumper and step into the stillness, broken only by the crunch of leaves underfoot and the distant ringing of cowbells.
Inside the chalet, the kitchen is already alive. The smell of fresh bread and coffee fills the air as laughter drifts between chopping boards and simmering pots. Today’s lesson isn’t just about recipes – it’s about sharing, learning, and discovering the joy of cooking together.
By afternoon, the warmth has settled in. Some wander to the lakes, their surfaces glinting like mirrors beneath the autumn sky. Others find saunas tucked into wooden cabins, or sink into the hot tub back at the chalet, the mountains stretching wide and still around them. Sometimes, if the weather turns, snowflakes tumble early and the group races to the slopes with sledges, laughter echoing off the white covered alpine meadows.
Evening gathers everyone back inside. The long wooden table glows. Plates are passed, stories shared, and friendships take root with every bite. Beyond the windows, the stars prick the sky, while inside the fire burns low, and the chalet hums with contentment.
This is October at Season It Cookery – a week of good food, new skills, crisp alpine mornings, and cosy autumn nights. A week to grow, to laugh, to discover what you can do.
And at the heart of it, you’ll be getting ahead with your Gold DofE residential, choosing not to leave it until the last minute but to embrace it fully, in a place where memories will stay long after the week is done.
